I love throw pillows! Better known as cushions. Over the years I have built a collection of cushions. They are a great way to add interest and colour to your space. They can also be changed and stored easily. Because I have a growing collection I have to buy cushion covers without the inserts. The inserts are much harder to store. I have a number of down filled cushion inserts in different sizes and I change the covers when needed. I find that down filled cushions provide the best aesthetic for a pillow.

Cushions can range in price, so it can become an expensive habit. I have admired cushions that are $300 each, but have yet to buy them. Maybe one day. I have bought covers from various places. My new favourite place to buy covers is H&M home. They offer a large selection and continuously add new pieces. They are also affordable. They sell the inserts separately and most of the covers are machine washable including some of their velvet covers. I have found that many other companies that sell velvet cushions offer only dry clean or spot clean velvet. If that is important to you, remember to check for those details, which can often be found under the care instructions for each product online .

One of my favourite pair of cushions are from Anthropologie. The quality of their velvet cushions is stunning. And the set that I bought are machine washable. I believe that most of their cushions are. Their website also provides care instructions for each product, so it is easy to check. Their cushions come with inserts, this may be one of the reasons why they are higher priced than H&M’s. their prices are also in US dollars so many international buyers will have to pay increased costs. Though I would have preferred to not have the insert with it and found the cost higher than I wanted to spend, they are one of the most outstanding cushions in my collection so for me they were worth every penny. They are photographed below, however the photo does not show their true beauty. They have a lovely silver sheen that is hard to capture in an image.

The cushions featured in the pictures above are from H&M. The throw blanket is also from H&M. I have only linked what is currently in stock.

Lighting

Lighting can make all of the difference. It is often one of the more expensive purchases when decorating. The picture above features my two favourite lighting pieces in my home.

Lighting can make all of the difference. It is often one of the more expensive purchases when decorating. The picture above features my two favourite lighting pieces in my home. We have had the chandelier for years. It is very pretty in person and photographs well. It is also affordable. It is from Home Depot and it is still available. I am usually drown to crystal chandeliers. I am on the hunt for another chandelier for a different room. I have yet to find another that I like as much as this one. It ticks all of the boxes for me in terms of price, quality and looks.

The lamps were also purchased a number of years ago. They are from Target. I am unable to find them on the target website now, but I have found similar lamps on Wayfair and Overstock. The mercury glass of the lamps makes them quite pretty and glamorous. Since they are silver they are easily placed with many other colours, and fit in in most settings. They have been one of my best buys. They are quite fragile, so I have to handle them with care. Because I love the aesthetic of them I will most likely buy another pair. I am interested to see if the set from Wayfair or Overstock are sturdier.
